3. ICIT Committee activities
a. Education & Schools – Mark (chair) ISAC Fall School
schedule will be similar to this year and we are always looking
for suggestions – nothing definite for Fall School – open to
joint sessions with other affiliates
b. Legislative – issues/action needed from ICIT members –
Jeff (chair) legislative session are through the first funnel, not that
much to monitor this year, ISAC just put out another list of
surviving bills, Jeff is looking for feedback on how much ICIT
should be involved in legislative efforts; standing request from
recorders for a method of calculating technology fees for
recovering costs. Randy, concern over legislation that would be
extremely difficult to implement. Also concern over the
assessors being tied to the Iowa Manual rather then March
Swift which would open up many options to automate offices.
Jim – is there a technology team in the legislature? No.
c. Membership, Nominating & Awards – Jim (chair) – Jim has
written a letter that will be mailed to every county supervisor in
the state looking for involvement from every county in ICIT.
Nominations – VP – Randy Snyder, Micah Van Mannen
Secretary/Treasurer – Ray Willis – by Jeff Rodda – 2nd by
Randy Snyder; Mark Castenson – by Ray Willis – 2nd by

County and the ICIT web site are completely seperate.
Right now the mailing list is set up to mail to all names in the
list, not just paid members. Send Scott any changes needed
for the committee lists.
e. Business Continuation – Jim (chair) right now the committee
is not having meetings , combined with the HIPPA security
committee which is now resolved. No requests for training
on ICN. Disater plans must be in place by April 21st.
There is ISAC web site; HIPPA; HIPPA Secutiry to see
HIPPA rules and disaster recovery templates.
f. Cadastral Committee – Ray (chair) good meeting this morning
at the Savery. We will be working on developing postings for
the ICIT web site on
Report from Wayne Chizek – ICIT representative on the ISAC
board of directors- ISAC received a grant for GIS technology
manager, hope to have job description and someone in that
position sometime in May. President of ISAC this year is
Angela Connolly, Polk County Supervisor. Golf outing same
date as our mid-year. FYI – on ISAC Spring and Fall
Schools – wanted to expand topics to longer. there has
been a tendency for the numbers of attendees to be declining.
The new facilities increased vendor participation and therefor
the profits from the conference. County government will be
changing and ISAC and ICIT must work to define the future
of counties and coordinating government efforts. ICIT should
take a role in helping define directions. Stearing committees –
ISAC has 2 meetings, September 9th and October to develop
legislative issues. June – legislative workshops on how to deal
with new legislation by district. April 1st will be the chance to
volunteer for one of the committees:
County Administration and Organization
Environment and Public Health
Human Services
Land Use and Rural Affairs
Public Safety
Taxation and Finanace
Transportation
